If you’re like me, your mind is already on your next book even while you’re in the middle of a great one now. I am always on the lookout for what’s new and good. Also, I like to be ahead of the curve; I like to have completed a new piece of fiction and be able to suggest it to others.
With this in mind, here are 5 Best New Fiction Books of 2024 that I’m looking forward to reading soon:
1. Expiration Dates by Rebecca Serle
Expiration Dates by Rebecca Serle has a touch of magic, which is always fun. Daphne is meeting blind date Jake at her favorite restaurant in LA. In the past, she has always received a slip of paper, a “gift from the universe” with a name and number, indicating the number of days the relationship will last. However, with Jake, it’s only his name. What does this mean? I guess we’ll have to read this romance to find out!
2. The House on Biscayne Bay by Chanel Cleeton
The House on Biscayne Bay by Chanel Cleeton follows Carmen, orphaned and arriving from Cuba to live with her estranged older sister, at Marbrisa, a sprawling Miami estate built in the 1920’s. Something is not quite right, and as Carmen begins to learn the history of the sprawling mansion, she begins to fear for her life.
3. Shelterwood by Lisa Wingate
Shelterwood by Lisa Wingate sounds like a retelling of the blockbuster novel and movie Children of the Flower Moon. I hope that’s not the case, and I like this author, so I will give this one a chance. The story is that of pioneer women settlers in 1909 Oklahoma who go to great lengths to protect their children from the greed of men who crave power, oil, and land, and who will do anything to achieve those goals. Sounds enticing!
4. The Divorcees by Rowan Beaird
The Divorcees by Rowan Beaird is a bit more light-hearted. Who knew that Reno, Nevada was once the divorce capital of the world? When Lois Saunders books a stay at a “divorce ranch” it is with the sole intention of meeting the six-week requirement of residency. A friendship with another guest, Greer, blossoms as the two discover the possibilities of being newly single. This sounds like a romp in a desert oasis with a couple of nearly-single ladies. Can’t wait!
5. The Sicilian Inheritance by Jo Piazza
The Sicilian Inheritance by Jo Piazza is loosely based on a story from the author’s own family. Sara’s life is a mess, suffering from failure on both the business and marriage fronts. A plane ticket to Sicily from her recently-passed Aunt Rosie, as well as a possible inheritance, leads her to Italy, where she discovers a shocking family secret. Sounds irresistible!
What’s your favorites book? I’d love to know! Please leave a comment.
